BBC made a TV movie not long after the book. It was good from what I remember. Hollywood has a nack for changing things in ways that don’t make sense. Examples: Denzel Washington in The Pelican Brief, Tom Hanks in The DaVinci Code, the blonde actress playing Julia in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (the character is described as having long, dark hair)…

There was so much left out in the movie. I was severely disappointed in it based on the book. But I am glad I saw it, the costumes were great at least! And I also happen to think that they miscast everyone in that movie. Stafford was supposed to be a hunk, that man was not a hunk.

Oh, I am so so sorry that the movie wasn’t all it was supposed to be AND MORE. I was hoping you would adore it. Or at least that they eye candy would be so fantabulous that it wouldn’t matter what (or if) anything at all was coming out of their mouths… After eleventy-three hours of driving, you certainly deserved that, at least.

Also, you can write to Santa year-round. We do. Son composes letters (well, pictograms mostly, since he’s only four) on a weekly basis — or more often when the feeling strikes. So, you are in good company.

Though a picture of your heart’s desire might help.

Every time I think a book-to-movie is finally going to be right, I am gravely disappointed. I scream at the TV, or have a running commentary about everything wrong, missing or changed. And then my husband banishes me from the room.

And I agree 100% on the movie. It’s quite sad to watch after reading the book.

I heard the movie was really awful. That it was basically a cat fight on screen, and that was about it. I’ve got the book on a to-read list… but the movie is NOT on my list of movies to watch.
