Read Books: The Lost Duke…

Julia Quinn Lost Duke

The Lost Duke of Wyndham (Two Dukes of Wyndham, Book 1)

We've discussed that I'm a sucker for the bodice-rippers, right? To be specific, I love regency-era romances. To be even more specific, I love Julia Quinn. When we saw this book on the shelf, my sister picked it up and started reading the back cover…

"Why are you reading the back?"

"To see what its about, duh."

"Does it matter? We're going to buy it anyhow."

"Good point."

That's how much I like Julia Quinn- I'll read her regardless.

Of anything.

The Lost Duke was good. Not one of my favorites of hers- but good. The hero was very interesting-albeit somewhat of a more "modern" character- and the heroine delightful. The whole "falling in love bit" seemed to go over much more easily and quickly than usual… but the storyline surrounding the fact that he was literally a lost duke gave me enough of a distraction not to notice (too much).

The next book in the series looks much more promising, however.

No cover needed.

I read this too and had similar feelings. It was good, but not one of her best.

Ugh… Did you get around to reading the second one, honey??? I hated it. Skimmed through almost all of it…

Yeah, I pretty much hated it too! It was like she just wanted to write it quickly and get it out of the way. It was such a good idea in theory, but she just didn't deliver it well.

share your brilliance...

there's no such thing as free speech on a weblog (after all, there's always some man behind some curtain with his hand on the delete button, right?)... so we'll call this your right to speech at a very good discount, mmmkay? in other words, you're encouraged to post whatever you like. feel free to agree, disagree, question, or whatever it is that'll tickle your pickle. I just ask that you do not spam, flood, or use an incredibly annoying amount of emoticons or cheap perfume.

They give me hives.
