What, all that and no pictures? Were there hives? Or blue streaks?

    Love the haiku.

Wanna go bald with me? Ah, fuck that, I can’t go bald; I like my hair too much. But, I’m so with you on the gray, it’s not even funny. Have you ever tried henna? Or Herbatint? (or is this one of the two?)

  • http://insaneworld.wordpress.com Sandy

Wow…I didn’t know that about tattoos. Of course, I had a friend tell me you couldn’t get an MRI if you have a tattoo…this is after I had an MRI. :-P

and BTW…I think women with gray hair are BEAUTIFUL.
    ;-D

Whoa…is that why those box things never work for me? I thought it was just because my hair is difficult. *shrugs* owell, Did everything turn out ok?

  • http://mommysmartini.blogspot.com MommyTime

Hey, I’ve got the same thing on tap for this weekend! Self-hair-color that is, not haiku, at which I am truly horrible. Also, I prefer no hives if I have a choice. What I want to know is: was the box right? or was this just another alarmist tactic about a non-issue? Inquiring minds want to know…

    say what?

I’ve never heard of that! I don’t actually have a tattoo, but I have a scar on my lower back that I sometimes pretend is a tattoo just to feel cooler than I am

so I’m certain I would have noticed this warning

oops, scratch that. I didn’t read the fine print. nothing can deter me from covering the grays!!!

  • http://fritterfarmers.blogspot.com Kathryn

Yep. I’m with you on this. I have grays too. Damn it. And trust me, tattoos don’t have any affect on hair dye.

So, did you do it? Or are you going to the salon? What a great way to ku!!

  • http://www.qweeniescourt.blogspot.com Qweenie

    Good ‘ku….how’s the hair??

I’ve never read the box that carefully. Then again, I’ve never had the courage to actually do it myself. The box has been sitting under the sink so long that it has probably gone bad.

You can’t leave us hanging! How did it turn out?

  • http://pandoraschest.blogspot.com PandoraWilde

I had no idea about tattoos increasing dye allergies. I work with pigments and only use dyes on my hair, so maybe I’ll luck out since I don’t dye my hair nearly as often as it needs it.

  • http://tasinastime.blogspot.com Tasina

Ok – I’ve had my tats for like 20 years and didn’t know ANY of this stuff!! I’ve dyed my hair (not for a long time though) AND I had an MRI 3 months ago. I’m totally screwed!!! If I spontaneously turn radioactive, covered in hives, and smelling of sulphates – I’m gonna come back here and COMPLAIN A LOT!!!

(Check my haikus if you get a chance.)

  • http://amysbratpack.blogspot.com amy

No tattoos here. But I can’t do the box thing. I have to get out and pay for my hair color. Okay really, I’m paying for the two hours of no children!

  • http://www.shamelesslysassy.com Amanda

I have two tattoos. Anyhow, I do the box deal sometimes. It generally works for me, because I only use it when I’m sick of my highlights only accentuating my roots and dye over them.

  • http://mom.buttermouth.com OHmommy

Oh. You are supposed to read the box before applying? Dude, no one told me.

BTW… your blog came up and I looked at your avatar and I was doing the SAME thing… holding my chin. LOL… have a good weekend.

  • http://ifmomsaysok.wordpress.com Tara R.

I never knew about the tattoo thing either. Crap! Hope that doesn’t mean I have to give my rogue white spot free range.

ok…dude…i’m going to have to repost something from the beginning of my blog…when i dyed my hair and it turned pink!!! forget the tattoo stuff…do it yourself dye…not your friend!!! NOT. YOUR. FRIEND!! it washes out, waaaaay sooner than professional. the color results…never what you think they are going to be and…it doesn’t ever cover the grey 100 percent. ok…so, this is based on one particular individual…me but, bad stuff!! bad, bad stuff!!
and…go ahead, put that on your fridge…
    xoxo

  • http://www.gliks.blogspot.com Karen MEG

I think if you do the skin patch thing test and it’s fine you should be ok… provided you haven’t done the whole job yet!!!
    It’s just a warning…doesn’t mean it’ll happen.
The salon thing is pricey, but I can’t get myself to do the box myself…last time I did it, I did a Jackson Pollock on my bathroom wall.

    Cool ku, though.

Thx for stopping by me blog.
